Tamil superstar Vijay, fondly known as "Thalapathy," has led his party, Tamilga Vetri Kalagam (TVK), to a remarkable milestone, with membership crossing the one-crore mark just weeks after its inaugural Mahanadu in Vikravandi.
The milestone reflects the party's growing influence and comes as a significant boost ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. TVK leader Vijay, during the Mahanadu held on October 27, unveiled the party’s ideologies and announced an impressive membership count of 7.5 million at the event.
Membership registration, which was briefly paused to accommodate Mahanadu arrangements, resumed shortly afterward, triggering an overwhelming response from supporters across the State. In a testament to the party’s growing popularity, TVK’s online registration platform witnessed an unprecedented surge in applications.
The app’s servers crashed three days ago due to the massive influx, temporarily disrupting the process. However, quick intervention by software engineers restored operations, allowing the membership drive to continue unabated. By Friday afternoon, the party had officially crossed the one-crore membership milestone, far exceeding initial expectations. Party insiders have revealed that TVK General Secretary Bussi Anand is likely to make a formal announcement soon, marking this historic achievement.
The surge in membership underscores TVK’s rising influence and sets a strong foundation as the party gears up to challenge established political forces in the upcoming elections. Vijay’s leadership and the party’s innovative outreach efforts have struck a chord with Tamil Nadu’s voters, signaling a new chapter in the state’s political landscape.
