The Supreme Court’s ruling on the classification of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) has been lauded as a triumph of justice and dharma by Mandakrishna Madiga, the founder president of Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MMPs). In a media briefing on Thursday, Madiga expressed his satisfaction with the court’s decision, emphasizing that the long-awaited implementation of SC classification in Andhra Pradesh is now on the horizon.

The ruling comes in the context of efforts initiated by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who had previously implemented SC classification measures during his tenure. Manda Krishna expressed confidence that the current leadership would follow through with the implementation of these measures in light of the Supreme Court’s endorsement. “This is a moment of victory for justice and dharma,” Manda Krishna stated, reflecting on the arduous 30-year struggle for SC classification.

“Even if wickedness wins temporarily, righteousness will always prevail. We have fought long and hard for this, and today we stand vindicated.” He dedicated the victory to the followers of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti who lost their lives during the movement.

He recounted the numerous conspiracies and obstacles faced along the way but highlighted the unwavering support from the broader society, including various political parties and individuals who stood in solidarity with the Madiga community. In his remarks, Madiga underscored the significance of the ruling, noting that it not only affirms the efforts of the movement but also sets a precedent for the future.

“This ruling is a testament to the perseverance and resilience of our community. It is a step towards ensuring that justice and fairness prevail in our society.”
