Need to reintroduce country's forgotten pride : RSS chief Bhagwat

India can take good things from the world but it should retain its soul and nature, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Sunday, as he stressed on reintroducing the country's forgotten pride.

He said giving contemporary form for our eternal dharma and culture should be thought about. He was speaking at the valedictory session of Lokmanthan-2024 here.

"For that, we have to first study from the root and keep our ideas in that frame. Especially, the new generation need to think about it," he said.

There is no need to respond to questions that come from "outside" as the country has already won in the practical and philosophical worlds, he said.

"There is a tendency to abuse to hide defeat. Something like that is happening. Elections were held couple of days ago. You see it," he said, without elaborating.

All the experiments over the past 2,000 years, including those who believe in god and non-believers, invidualistic and socialist, have faltered and are looking towards India, he said.

"Why should we respond to those questions? Why should we play kabaddi in their ground as per their rules? We have to bring the world to our ground," he said.

Bhagwat also said India's forgotten pride should be introduced again.

Talking about the importance of science having the consent of country's philosophical knowledge, he cited the example of scientists stressing on ethics in the use of Artificial intelligence.

Though resources are available to all, the wisdom and heart of the person makes a difference in how he uses it, he said.

India's value system emphasizes on the individual's wisdom, he said. There is logic and wisdom in India's approach to issues and the country need not follow other approaches to problems.

Though foreign invaders have made the countrymen forget their oneness and history but they alone cannot be blamed as there was a degeneration, he said.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, citing examples from scriptures, said there was no discrimination against 'Vanvasis' (forest dwellers).

However, there are people who, in political discussions, claim they are original citizens of the country and some others have come from outside. "Their agenda is to divide," she said.

Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy were among those who also spoke.
