CM Chandrababu Naidu Unveils Action Plan for Polavaram Project

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced the action plan for the construction of the Polavaram Project, highlighting key targets for its completion. After reviewing the project onsite, he held discussions with officials and addressed the media, stating that the action plan has been submitted to the Polavaram Project Authority.

The Chief Minister mentioned that the Minister of Water Resources and the Special Chief Secretary would travel to Delhi to present the action plan to the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti. He added that consultations with international experts and the Central Water Commission would aid in finalizing the project plan.

According to the proposed schedule, the critical Earth-cum-Rock Fill (ECRF) Dam Gap-1 is expected to be completed by February 2026, while Gap-2 and other related works are planned for completion by December 31, 2027. However, the state government aims to finish these tasks by July 2027.

The Left Canal works, originally scheduled for completion by February 2027, are now targeted for completion by July 2026. Land acquisition for over 16,000 acres is expected to be completed by April 2025.

CM Chandrababu directed that the Right Canal works be finished by April 2026. The construction of the Diaphragm Wall, which is projected to take place from January 2025 to February 2026, has been expedited with a goal of completion by December 2025.

He also instructed officials to partially complete the ECRF Dam by August 2026. This will allow for water storage at the Cofferdam site and enable water supply through the Right and Left Canals using gravity.
