Discussion on restoration of volunteer system
Amaravati: Sep 18: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has approved a new liquor policy, setting the price of liquor at Rs. 99 and ensuring that quality liquor brands will be available under this new scheme. This decision aims to provide more affordable options to consumers while maintaining high standards of quality. In a move to honor historical figures, the Cabinet has resolved to rename the Bhogapuram Airport after the esteemed freedom fighter Alluri Sitaramaraju.
The Cabinet also deliberated on the restoration of the volunteer system, which had expired in August of the previous year. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu suggested that further information be gathered on the revival of this system to ensure its effective implementation.
Another major topic of discussion was the alleged irregularities in the purchases of Sakshi newspaper during the previous government’s tenure. Minister Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy reported that Rs. 205 crore had been expended from the government treasury for the acquisition of Sakshi magazine over two years. Chief Minister Naidu has directed an inquiry into these payments to determine if they were in compliance with established rules.
Ministers also raised concerns about the newspaper’s circulation and the regulations governing the allocation of funds for its purchase. Additionally, the Cabinet approved the flood relief package announced by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
