The Telangana High Court has asked the police to refrain from arresting ‘Pushpa’ producers Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar and Yerneni Naveen. This is in connection to the Sandhya theater stampede case. The duo, associated with Mythri Movie Makers, filed a petition seeking relief from the court after being implicated in the fatal incident (on December 4, 2024) that claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman, Revathi.
Producers Role Limited To Production And Distribution
The Chikkadpally police registered a case, naming the Pushpa 2 producers, along with Sandhya Theatre management, staff, actor Allu Arjun, and his personal security, as accused. While stating that the producers have notified Sandhya theater management, the counsel argued that the producers had no direct involvement in managing the premieres shows at the theatre. The counsel further contented the producers’ role was only limited to producing and distributing the film and attributing criminal liability to them would be unfair. The High Court heard their petition and gave them relief. It had instructed the police to file a counter-affidavit in response and further hearings on this subject would be held after two weeks.
Allu Arjun’s Hearing On January 3
It may be noted that the High Court had given interim bail to Allu Arjun (A11 in the case) for four weeks after Nampally Metropolitan Court pronounced four weeks of judicial custody in the Sandhya theatre stampede case. Allu Arjun’s custody ended on December 27 and the actor appeared in court via video conference. The hearing was pushed to December 30; however, it has now been delayed further till January 3, 2025.
