In a shocking revelation, food safety officials have uncovered alarming violations during inspections at bakeries across the city

In a shocking revelation, food safety officials have uncovered alarming violations during inspections at bakeries across the city, with severe risks to public health. The officials found that Plum cakes at the Wax Pastries bakery were being prepared with Old Monk rum, a clear violation of food safety regulations.

The use of alcohol, intended to enhance the New Year’s flavor of the cakes, was not disclosed to customers, with no indication that rum was included in the cake ingredients. Further investigations revealed that the bakery was operating under unhygienic conditions, with cakes being made in plastic drums in an unsanitary environment.

The officials also discovered the use of other chemicals in the preparation of the cakes. The excise department had not authorized the use of rum for the cakes, prompting food safety officials to take action against the negligent bakery managers. Simultaneously, inspections at the Alwal Macha Bollaram Monginis Bakery revealed even more alarming conditions.

Cakes were being made amidst cockroaches and rats. The food safety team found expired ingredients such as coconut powder, saffron syrup, vanilla flavor syrup, and pineapple syrup being used in cake preparation. The cakes were made in unsanitary fridges and plastic drums, prompting officials to issue notices to the bakery managers. Food safety officials have vowed to take strict action against the irresponsible bakery managers who have jeopardized public health with such negligence.
