AP Cabinet clears Rs 83,000 crore BPCL Refinery, 100 bed ESI hospital

Amaravati, Jan 2: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, approved a slew of key projects on Thursday. Among the highlights, the Cabinet gave the green signal to the construction of a Rs 96,862 crore Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) refinery in Ramayyapatnam, Nellore district, and sanctioned Rs 2,733 crore worth of works in the State capital, Amaravati.
The BPCL refinery, set to be established on 6,000 acres, will have a capacity of 9 million metric tons across five blocks. The ambitious project will include a township, learning center, petrochemical units, crude oil terminal, green hydrogen facilities, and administration blocks, generating employment for 2,400 people. The Cabinet also approved the establishment of two engineering colleges in Amaravati and expanded the ESI Hospital in Tirupati from 50 to 100 beds. In Nadimpalem village,
Guntur district, a new 100-bed ESIC hospital will be built on six and a half acres. On the employment front, the Cabinet deliberated on generating jobs for over 2.63 lakh people through investments worth Rs 1.82 lakh crore, approved by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB). TCS was cleared to invest Rs 80 crore in Millennium Towers, Visakhapatnam, creating 2,000 jobs, while Azad Mobility India Limited will invest Rs 1,046 crore in Gudipalli, Sri Sathya Sai district, for manufacturing electric vehicles and battery packs. Five new companies in clean energy received Cabinet approval for investments totaling Rs 83,000 crore. The State will witness the establishment of wind and solar power plants in Nandyal, YSR, and Kurnool districts, furthering its green energy ambitions. The Cabinet approved an amendment to the AP MRUDA Act 2016, delegating building and layout permissions to municipalities.
Additionally, it approved the creation of 19 new posts for the Pithapuram Area Development Authority. Additionally, the Cabinet discussed about the Godavari to Banakacharla project, a river-linking initiative described by the CM as his dream project, and land allocations for several industries, including a green ammonia plant in Kakinada and a Home Ministry IR battalion in Chittoor district. In a separate meeting, the Chief Minister directed ministers to make grand arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Visakhapatnam on January 8. The Prime Minister is expected to lay the foundation stone for several development programs during his visit.
