Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari on Thursday revealed that the government has sanctioned Rs 963.93 crore for the construction of a 6-lane access-controlled highway in Visakhapatnam district.
This key infrastructure project will connect the Anakapalli–Anandapuram NH-16 corridor to Sheelanagar Junction on NH-516C. The highway, which spans 12.66 kilometers, will start from the eastern side of Sabbavaram village and conclude near the GAIL office on the existing port road at Sheelanagar Junction.
Gadkari emphasized that the new corridor will streamline cargo evacuation by eliminating traffic disruptions and segregating Sheelanagar–Anandapuram traffic. This move is expected to significantly improve connectivity to the Visakhapatnam Port and enhance logistical efficiency in the region, facilitating smoother movement of goods.
