BRS Working President and MLA KTR wrote a letter to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Congress National President Mallikarjuna Kharge on the issue of farmer loan waivers in Telangana. CM Revanth Reddy claimed to have waived off Rs. 40,000 crores of loans, but KTR stated in his letter that only Rs. 17,000 crores have been waived. He expressed concern that all the farmers were being forced to pay off their loans, despite the promises made.
KTR reminded that Revanth Reddy and Rahul Gandhi had promised to waive Rs. 2 lakhs in the name of Warangal Rythu declaration before the elections, and highlighted that only 40 percent of the people received amnesty with many conditions, contrary to the promise made to the rice donors.
KTR’s letter demanded the implementation of the Warangal Declaration and expressed that lakhs of farmers who have not received loan waivers are protesting across the state. The letter also emphasized the discrepancy between the CM’s words and the reality at the field level and warned of intensified struggle if the demands were not met.
