Minister Nara Lokesh Highlights the Plight of Gulf Victims
Since entering politics, State Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh has served as a role model for today’s youth,
consistently engaging with the public regardless of his position. No matter how significant or complex the issue, he responds swiftly as soon as it comes to his attention and follows up until a resolution is reached. Minister Lokesh's dedication to public service reflects his sincerity and commitment.
Many individuals, overwhelmed by meager incomes, venture to desert countries in search of better opportunities, only to fall prey to deceptive agents. Minister Lokesh has stepped in to extend his support to these victims. He has successfully facilitated the return of nearly 20 individuals who were misled by agents and trapped in the Gulf, bringing hope back to their families.
Upon receiving distress messages through social media platforms like WhatsApp, Twitter, and Facebook, Minister Nara Lokesh acted with urgency. Not only did the government intervene, but NRI TDP teams affiliated with the Telugu Desam Party also mobilized to assist those suffering in the desert. The victims, initially despairing over their plight, have expressed heartfelt gratitude to Minister Lokesh for revitalizing their lives when they thought all hope was lost. To genuinely serve the public, it is not sufficient to hold power; one must possess a compassionate heart that empathizes with the struggles of the people.
One survivor, Chintaparthi Shiva from Valmikipuram mandal in Annamayya district, shared his experience: "I went to Kuwait to support my family due to financial difficulties. I was assigned to provide food and water for domestic animals like horses, camels, and dogs in an isolated desert area. The facilities were inadequate, and I had to walk 2 kilometers for water in scorching temperatures exceeding 50 degrees. I wasn't even fed properly, and I often cried for my wife and children, feeling like my life was ending in that desert. I recorded a video detailing my hardships and sent it to friends back home. Minister Lokesh learned of my situation via social media and responded immediately. His team located me, and upon learning that I had been cheated by agents, they contacted the embassy and arranged for my return. I will forever be indebted to Minister Lokesh for rescuing me from the Kuwaiti desert and giving me a second chance at life."
Kothapalli Priyanka from Rajanagaram mandal recounted her experience: "I sought to support my children with my limited income, so I went to Oman through an agent to work as a housemaid. Once there, I was forced to work tirelessly, and despite bleeding from my nose and mouth, no one offered assistance. I cried, thinking of my children and managed to inform my uncle and wife about being cheated by the agents. When they realized I was on the phone, my captors confiscated my phone. My family reached out to Minister Lokesh through TDP leaders in Rajanagaram. He quickly informed the NRI TDP leaders in Oman, who identified my location. Initially, the agent demanded one lakh rupees for my release, but eventually, SRSI TDP leaders negotiated with the agents and the embassy, securing my return home. I will always remember Minister Lokesh's help in getting me out of that terrifying situation."
Others like Chigurupati Baby, Namidi Pramila, and Sarella Veerendra Kumar echoed their sincere gratitude, vowing never to forget Minister Nara Lokesh’s support throughout their lives.
