It is heartening to see that the government has finalized the naming of the renowned scientist, the late Dr. Yellapragada Subbarao,
for the Government Medical College in Eluru. Upon receiving the proposal to honor Dr. Subbarao, the Honorable Chief Minister, Shri Chandrababu Naidu, responded positively. In line with the Chief Minister's directive, State Minister for Medical and Health, Shri Satyakumar Yadav, along with senior officials from the Medical and Health Department, finalized the decision to name the college after this world-renowned scientist.
I express my heartfelt gratitude to Honorable Chief Minister, Shri Chandrababu Naidu, as well as to Shri Satyakumar Yadav and the senior officials for their efforts. By naming the college after Dr. Yellapragada Subbarao—who is celebrated for discovering drugs for the prevention of cancer, malaria, and tuberculosis, as well as for identifying the first tetracycline antibiotic—the government has ensured that his invaluable contributions to science are remembered. His research and discoveries will inspire both present and future generations.
