Thaman to Recompose Songs for Prabhas’ Raja Saab—A Strategic Move?
Music director Thaman is known for pushing boundaries to deliver blockbuster soundtracks, and his latest decision for Prabhas' Raja Saab is no exception. In a recent statement, Thaman revealed that he will be recomposing the film’s songs since the original compositions were never filmed.
“When audio labels invest ₹30-40 crores in a film, I believe it’s my responsibility to deliver my best. Moreover, since it’s #Prabhas’ film, we have to aim for something on a much bigger scale. We composed songs for Raja Saab a while ago. But since they hadn’t been shot yet, I felt those tunes had lost their freshness. So, we decided to scrap them and recompose the songs,” said Thaman.
This approach ensures the audio album remains fresh and aligns with the evolving vision of the film. While recomposing can sustain excitement and elevate quality, it also comes with financial and creative costs. Producers invest heavily in music, and composers put in significant effort to finalize tracks. Some argue that truly great songs never lose their charm, as proven by classics that remain popular for decades.
Re-attempting a song may be justified, but scrapping an entire album is a bold move—one that doesn’t always guarantee success. However, with Thaman’s experience, this decision is likely backed by a strong strategic vision. Ultimately, the goal is to create a memorable soundtrack that resonates with audiences.
Directed by Maruthi, Raja Saab stars Prabhas, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Malavika Mohanan in lead roles. The team has yet to announce the film’s release date.
