Undavalli Arun Kumar likely to join YSRCP
Senior politician Undavalli Arun Kumar is reportedly set to join the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), marking a significant political development in Andhra Pradesh. Despite several key leaders leaving the party, including Rajya Sabha member V. Vijayasai Reddy, who recently resigned from both the party and his parliamentary position, YSRCP chief and former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy remains focused on strengthening the party.
He has been holding meetings with party leaders and cadres to reassure them. As part of his efforts to consolidate the party, Jagan Mohan Reddy has been reaching out to senior leaders who were once close to the late Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
Recently, he inducted former Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president and ex-minister Sake Sailajanath into the party. In a similar move, former Member of Parliament Undavalli Arun Kumar is reportedly set to join YSRCP, with sources indicating that the date for his induction has already been finalized.
Speculation is rife that Undavalli Arun Kumar will officially join YSRCP on February 26 at Jagan Mohan Reddy’s invitation. A close associate of the late Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Undavalli Arun Kumar has remained inactive in electoral politics since the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
However, he has continued to voice his opinions on key state issues, including the Polavaram project, and has both praised and criticized various decisions of the Jagan Mohan Reddy government. YSRCP supporters believe Undavalli Arun Kumar’s induction will boost the party’s morale, and there are reports that other senior Congress leaders may follow suit.
Although there has been no official confirmation from Undavalli Arun Kumar regarding his decision, he has not denied the ongoing speculation, further fueling the belief that his entry into YSRCP is almost certain. A photograph of him with Jagan Mohan Reddy has recently gone viral on social media, adding to the speculation.
Following YSRCP’s defeat in the last Assembly elections, Jagan Mohan Reddy has been adopting new strategies to rebuild the party. He has been organizing district-wise meetings with party workers, making more media appearances to criticize the coalition government’s failures, and attempting to channel public dissatisfaction against the ruling alliance. He is also preparing for an extensive district tour after the Ugadi festival to connect with the people once again.
