Telangana CM Revanth rejects Adani’s Rs 100 crore donation amid controversy

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has announced the State’s decision to return industrialist Gautam Adani’s Rs. 100 crore donation

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has announced the State’s decision to return industrialist Gautam Adani’s Rs. 100 crore donation to the Telangana Skill University, citing ongoing controversies surrounding the Adani Group. The Chief Minister clarified that the State government has no connection to the allegations and intends to avoid unnecessary disputes. Speaking to the media in Hyderabad on Monday,

CM Revanth Reddy stated that a letter has been sent to Adani Group requesting the withdrawal of the pledged donation. "There has been significant speculation that the Telangana government is collecting funds from Adani. This is untrue. All investments by Adani Group have been made constitutionally and through legal tenders," he said, adding that the state provides equal opportunities to all businesses, including Ambani, Adani, and Tata.

This decision follows comments by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who called for an investigation into Adani's dealings, including agreements signed by Congress-led states like Telangana and Karnataka. At a recent press conference, Rahul Gandhi demanded accountability and action against those linked to the controversies. Earlier this year, the Adani Group had announced investments of Rs. 12,400 crore in Telangana across sectors, including Rs. 5,000 crore for pumped storage projects and Rs. 1,400 crore for a cement plant. However, the Rs. 100 crore donation for the Skill University, announced in October, has now been declined.

In response to opposition allegations, Revanth Reddy criticized media reports suggesting misuse of the funds. He defended the State’s transparency in awarding projects and accused opposition parties of creating baseless controversies. The Chief Minister also took a dig at the BRS leadership, sarcastically remarking on competition within the KCR family for the CM’s position, referencing recent controversies involving KCR's daughter, Kavitha.
