The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning regarding the heavy rains expected in the South Coast and Rayalaseema regions. According to their statement, a low-pressure area has formed in the Bay of Bengal and is moving northwestward. It is projected to develop into a severe cyclonic storm within the next 24 hours, likely making landfall in Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka by Monday.
As a result of this weather system, heavyrains are anticipated in several coastal districts from Wednesday to Saturday. The IMD forecasts that rain will occur in the South Coast and Rayalaseema from December 16 to 28, with significant precipitation expected in many locations.
Specifically, heavy rains are predicted for Visakhapatnam, Anakapalle, and Kakinada districts, as well as along the South Coast on the 29th of this month. Winds are expected to reach speeds of 45 to 55 km per hour. Fishermen have been advised to refrain from going out to sea along the South Coast, and warning signals have been issued at ports.
Farmers are urged to take necessary measures to protect crops, as Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema are likely to be the most affected areas.
