Metro rail projects for Vizag, Vijayawada approved

The Visakhapatnam Metro project will proceed in two phases, with the first phase covering three corridors that span a total of 46.23 km. Corridor 1 will stretch 34.4 km from Visakhapatnam Steel Plant to Kommadi, Corridor 2 will cover 5.08 km from Gurudwara to Old Post Office, and Corridor 3 will span 6.75 km from Tatichetlapalem to Chinawalteru. In the second phase, Corridor 4 will extend the metro network by 30.67 km, running from Kommadi to Bhogapuram Airport.
In Vijayawada, the first phase of the metro project will focus on two key corridors. Corridor 1 will cover 10.2 km, running from Gannavaram to Pandit Nehru Bus Stand, while Corridor 2 will span 12.3 km, from Pandit Nehru Bus Stand to Penamalur.
The second phase of the Vijayawada metro will include Corridor 3, a 20.3 km line connecting Pandit Nehru Bus Stand to Amaravati.
These metro projects are expected to significantly enhance connectivity between key urban areas, reduce traffic congestion, and contribute to the overall economic development of both cities.
