Two Intermediate students die by suicide after exam results
In a deeply tragic turn of events, two students ended their lives after failing or fearing failure in the intermediate examinations, whose results were declared on Saturday.
One of the deceased, G Charan, a resident of Kondapet in Tagarapuvalasa village of Visakhapatnam district, was reportedly distraught after learning he had failed in the exams. Despite his parents reassuring him and urging him to retake the exams, Charan took the extreme step while they were away at work. He was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the house. Though family members rushed him to a private hospital, doctors declared him dead on arrival. The grief-stricken parents, who said Charan had studied hard, are inconsolable.
In a separate but equally heartbreaking incident, 17-year-old Venkata Sudishwar Reddy from A. Kodur village in Bandi Atmakur mandal of Kurnool district died by suicide on Friday night. A first-year intermediate student at a private college in Nandyal, Sudishwar had been under emotional stress, fearing poor performance in the recently concluded exams. He reportedly believed he would fail and be humiliated, which drove him into deep despair.
