CAPF Jobs: Important Update for the Unemployed

The Central Government has announced that over one lakh jobs are currently vacant in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and the Assam Rifles (AR). Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai disclosed this information in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. He noted that approximately 71,231 positions have been filled over the past five years.

The majority of the job vacancies in CAPF and AR have occurred due to retirements, resignations, promotions, deaths, the formation of new battalions, and the creation of new positions. As of October 30, a total of 100,204 posts remain unfilled in CAPF and AR.

The breakdown of vacancies by department is as follows: 33,730 posts are vacant in the CRPF, 31,782 in the CISF, 12,808 in the BSF, 9,861 in the ITBP, 8,646 in the SSB, and 3,377 in the Assam Rifles. The minister stated that the ministry will take prompt action to fill these vacancies through the UPSC and SSC.

To expedite the recruitment process, the government is implementing measures such as reducing the time required for medical examinations and lowering the cut-off marks for shortlisted candidates for the Constable GD position.

The minister emphasized that the central government prioritizes the well-being of personnel serving in the central armed forces. He mentioned that efforts are underway to ensure that CAPF personnel can spend 100 days a year with their families. From 2020 to October 2024, it was reported that 42,797 CAPF and AR personnel have utilized their 100 days of leave.
