TG Inter Exams: Inter Exams Are Approaching – Inter Board Implements a 90-Day Plan!
The Inter Board is preparing for the annual exams, which are scheduled to take place in February-March next year for Intermediate students in government junior colleges across the state for the 2024-25 academic year. This time, the Education Department has focused on increasing the success rate of Intermediate students. With only three months remaining until the Inter annual exams, the Inter Board has formulated a 90-day action plan.
Krishna Aditya, who recently took charge as the Secretary of the Inter Board, is organizing measures to support this initiative. He held a meeting with the principals of the 428 government junior colleges in the state, as well as district and nodal officers from the Inter Education Department, where key decisions were made.
In the current academic year, approximately 1.80 lakh students, including both junior and senior Intermediate students, are enrolled in government junior colleges. However, student attendance in many colleges has not exceeded 50%.
During the meeting, Krishna Aditya reviewed statistics from the last three years and found that only 40% of first-year students passed in 2023. To improve the pass percentage for this year, principals were instructed to encourage absent students to attend school and to contact their parents for discussions. If students do not respond after two or three calls, their names should be removed from the roll.
Principals were also advised to assess each student's educational level, identify those who are struggling, and determine how many special classes they need to catch up with their peers. The syllabus must be completed by the end of December, and lecturers were directed to conduct special classes to achieve this goal.
Additionally, an action plan should be prepared for each subject and implemented over the next 90 days. Colleges are to hold meetings at the local level and submit reports on their progress. Each government and private college should appoint one female and one male faculty member as counselors. Any student experiencing mental stress should receive counseling, and services from psychologists via the Telemanus toll-free number should be utilized. It is imperative to ensure that no student faces suicidal tendencies under any circumstances.
