Mandakrishna questions Jagan’s stand on SC classification

Dalit leader Mandakrishna Madiga has questioned whether former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is attempting to create unrest among Dalits. He demanded that Jagan clarify his stance on the Scheduled Caste (SC) classification issue, raising concerns that Jagan may have conveyed his position through his party MLA Suresh.

Mandakrishna alleged that Jagan is favoring the Malas within the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) while sidelining the Madigas. He contrasted Jagan’s approach with that of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, highlighting that Naidu had supported SC classification since 1996 when he was Chief Minister. He recalled that Justice Ramachandra Raju’s committee had endorsed the classification, but its implementation was obstructed by vested interests.

He further stated that the current government has reaffirmed its support for SC classification, with Chandrababu planning to introduce an ordinance soon to fulfill his longstanding commitment. In contrast, Mandakrishna accused Jagan of initially backing SC classification as a Kadapa MP but later reneging on his promise to the SC community.
