In an effort to study the implementation of free bus travel for women in Karnataka, a delegation of Andhra Pradesh ministers visited the state on an official tour. The ministers, including Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, Home Minister Anita, and Women and Child Welfare Minister Gummidi Sandhyarani, met with Karnataka Minister Ramalinga Reddy and senior state officials. The meeting focused on understanding the operational framework and execution of the free bus travel scheme for women, currently being implemented by the Congress government in Karnataka.

During the visit, the Andhra Pradesh ministers traveled in Karnataka RTC buses to personally experience the service and gather insights into its functioning. They inquired about various aspects of the scheme, including its funding, logistics, and impact on women commuters. The ministers stated that the collected information would be compiled into a detailed report, which would soon be submitted to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

This visit is part of a larger initiative by the TDP-Jana Sena-BJP alliance, which had earlier promised to provide free RTC bus services for women if they return to power in Andhra Pradesh. To fulfill this election promise, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has set up a ministerial subcommittee tasked with studying similar schemes implemented in other states.
