Andhra Pradesh Gears Up for Grand International Women’s Day Celebrations
Ministers S. Savitha, Vangalapudi Anitha, and Gummadi Sandhya Rani have directed officials to ensure the seamless and well-coordinated organization of the state-level International Women’s Day celebrations on March 8 in Markapuram, Prakasam district. With Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu expected to attend, they emphasized the need for meticulous planning and disciplined execution.
On Tuesday, the ministers held a review meeting at the state secretariat in Velagapudi with officials from ten government departments, including the Women and Child Welfare, Tribal Welfare, Backward Classes Welfare, Handlooms, and Home Departments.
Key Initiatives Announced
🔹 Skill Development & Economic Empowerment
Minister for BC Welfare S. Savitha announced that as part of the celebrations, over 100,000 women will be trained in tailoring and provided with sewing machines, with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu inaugurating the initiative. Additionally, event management units will be established to support women's economic empowerment. Stalls showcasing handloom textiles, handicrafts, and various welfare programs will also be set up at the venue.
🔹 Women’s Safety & Government Welfare Schemes
Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha stressed the importance of selecting eligible beneficiaries for government schemes and ensuring they receive unit approval documents and cheques directly from the Chief Minister. She also announced the launch of the Shakti App, a new safety initiative for women, which will be unveiled by the Chief Minister on Women’s Day.

Minister for Women and Child Welfare Gummadi Sandhya Rani directed district officials to organize parallel Women’s Day celebrations across all districts. She instructed immediate communication of event details to district authorities to ensure smooth execution.
