The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released the notification for the National Eligibility Test (NET) for December 2024.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released the notification for the National Eligibility Test (NET) for December 2024. The UGC NET is conducted twice a year, in June and December, to select candidates for the positions of Assistant Professor in universities, along with offering Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and facilitating admissions to PhD programs. The National Testing Agency (NTA) oversees the examination process.

- *Application Process:* Online applications began on November 19, 2024, and will remain open until December 10, 2024.
- *Exam Subjects:* The UGC NET exam will cover a total of 85 subjects, including Adult Education, Anthropology, Arabic, Archaeology, Commerce, Computer Science, Economics, English, History, Psychology, Political Science, and many more.
Candidates who hold a Master's degree with at least 55% marks are eligible to apply. For candidates belonging to OBC-NCL/SC/ST/Divyang/Third Gender categories, a minimum of 50% marks is required. The upper age limit for the JRF position is 30 years as of January 1, 2025, while there is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor roles.

- General Candidates: Rs. 1150
- EWS and OBC-NCL Candidates: Rs. 600
- SC, ST, Divyang, and Third Gender Candidates: Rs. 325
*Exam Structure:*
The exam will consist of two papers:
- *Paper 1:* 50 questions (100 marks). Topics include Reasoning Ability, Reading Comprehension, Logical Thinking, and General Awareness.
- *Paper 2:* 100 questions (200 marks) based on the subject chosen by the candidate.
The total duration of the exam is 3 hours.

If you qualify for the NET, you will be eligible to work as an Assistant Professor in universities and colleges. If you are selected for JRF, you will be entitled to a fellowship, which can also contribute towards your PhD studies.
