YSRCP’s Gautam Reddy accused in murder plot, four arrested

arrested by Vijayawada police in connection with a murder-for-hire plot allegedly orchestrated by YSR Congress leader

Four individuals were arrested by Vijayawada police in connection with a murder-for-hire plot allegedly orchestrated by YSR Congress leader and Former Chairman of Fibernet P Gautam Reddy. City police commissioner Rajasekhar Babu
revealed that Gautam Reddy had hired the accused to kill Uma Maheswara Shastri, a resident of Satyanarayanapuram, over a disputed property.

The conflict began in 2017 when Shastri returned from the United States and discovered that Gautam Reddy had occupied his mother’s land using falsified documents to construct an illegal shed. Following complaints filed by Shastri, both at the Satyanarayanapuram police station and the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, the municipal commissioner canceled the fraudulent property assessments initiated by Reddy. Although Reddy sought relief from the High Court, he was instructed to adhere to legal protocols. The dispute escalated in 2023 when Gautam Reddy allegedly resumed illegal constructions on the disputed land.

In a violent turn of events, on October 31 and again on November 6, 2024, Shastri was reportedly attacked by Reddy’s associates in his home. Shastri publicly highlighted the incidents through a video posted on MBO YouTube channel on November 5, alleging threats to his life and exposing what he described as Reddy’s "anarchy."

Following an investigation, police apprehended suspects Gaddam Vinod, Talluri Ganesh, Devella Vamsi, and Ashok Kumar near Vijayawada Railway Station. According to Commissioner Babu, the investigation uncovered that Gautam Reddy had allegedly offered a Rs 25 lakh bounty for Shastri's murder. Police are currently searching for four additional suspects, identified as Anil, Prithviraj, Bitra Purushottam, and Banda Srinu, who remain at large. Ends//
