Aadhaar Face Authentication Records 102 Crore Transactions in FY25
Aadhaar’s face authentication solutions, developed by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), have witnessed remarkable growth, accounting for over 78% of total transactions in FY25, the government announced.
Since its launch in October 2022, UIDAI has recorded a cumulative 130.5 crore face authentication transactions, with nearly 102 crore occurring in the 2024-25 financial year alone.
“This reflects the increasing adoption of the solution and its seamless benefits for Aadhaar number holders,” the IT Ministry stated.
Between January and March 2024, nearly 39.5 crore face authentication transactions were conducted. In March alone, over 15.25 crore transactions took place, marking a 21.6% rise from the previous month.
“The achievement underscores the growing trust and adoption of this biometric authentication across sectors such as fintech, finance, and telecommunications,” the ministry added.
Aadhaar Face Authentication Boosts Government Services
The technology is playing a vital role in ensuring efficient service delivery across multiple government schemes, including PM Awas (Urban), PM E-Drive, PM-JAY, PM Ujjwala, PM Kisan, and PM Internship. It serves as a reliable alternative for senior citizens and individuals with fingerprint authentication issues due to manual labor or health conditions.
Currently, 102 entities across government and private sectors have integrated Aadhaar face authentication into their systems.
AI-Powered, Secure, and Contactless
This AI-driven authentication works on both Android and iOS platforms and is designed to counter video replay attacks and static photo authentication attempts by malicious actors. As a contactless, anytime-anywhere solution, it ensures both convenience and stringent security.
By enabling users to verify their identity with just a face scan, Aadhaar face authentication continues to streamline digital verification while upholding high-security standards.
