The Zilla Parishath High School at Nunna in Vijayawada Rural Mandal of the NTR District has gained significant recognition from the School Education Department of Andhra Pradesh. This school has become a model for its vibrant and inspiring infrastructure, featuring paintings of prominent personalities like Dr BR Ambedkar, Mother Teresa, Rabindranath Tagore, Vivekananda and Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, which lend the building a more pleasant and attractive appearance than many corporate schools.
As part of its initiatives to strengthen community involvement in education, the School Education Department is organizing a Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) across all Government, Aided, Municipal, Zilla Parishath, and Mandal Parishath schools in the state on December 7. The event has been widely publicized, and Minister for Human Resources and IT, Nara Lokesh, has extended an invitation to parents, donors, alumni, and local representatives to participate actively.
Interestingly, the invitation card comprised the Nunna ZP High School building photo, beside a photo of Minister Lokesh with school students. In a gesture of pride and acknowledgement, the department chose the Nunna ZP High School’s iconic building photo for the official invitation, showcasing the school's appeal and commitment to holistic education. This step underlines the importance of integrating cultural and inspirational elements in the school environment to foster a better learning experience.
Nunna ZP High School has a rich history spanning seven decades and is situated on approximately 10 acres of land. Over the years, many donors have generously contributed to the school's development by constructing additional classrooms and enhancing its infrastructure, along with support from the government. Recently, alumni of the school funded several projects, including the construction of new classrooms at a cost of Rs.30 lakh, two dining halls for Rs.15 lakh, a cycle shed constructed at a cost of Rs.5 lakh, and a well-equipped science laboratory, which was built at a cost of Rs.6.5 lakh.
On the other hand, the Rotary Club of Vijayawada constructed Modern and Hygienic Toilets for both boys and girls including a restroom for girl students by spending Rs.30 lakh. In addition to this, many donors have come forward to support students who excelled in education, sports and games. Interestingly, the school building photo had a place on the School Education Department website.
Later, many officials from the education department visited the school several times and were attracted a lot. As a result, the officials proposed to the government to invite the parents to the Mega PTM through an invitation card by showing the pleasant building in the Nunna High School building photo.
