Recent findings indicate that almost all the milk sold in the Indian market is adulterated. In fact, 68.7% of the milk available in India is compromised. The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that 87% of the population may face an increased risk of cancer by 2025 due to this consumption of adulterated milk.

If the issue of adulterated milk is not addressed, it poses a serious threat to public health across India, affecting both urban areas and rural villages. This adulteration often involves harmful substances like urea and petroleum products, driven by illegal profits.

There are reports that officials tasked with inspecting milk quality are being bribed and are choosing to remain silent about the corruption. However, it is not only the responsibility of officials to tackle this issue; everyone in the community has a role to play in stopping this dangerous practice.

It is crucial to consider key questions like how many milking buffaloes exist, the volume of milk being produced, and the sources of this milk. Addressing these questions is vital for ensuring the safety of our food supply.
