Himachal Pradesh BJP MP and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has directed her latest movie “Emergency,” which is based on the life story of Indira Gandhi. In the film, Kangana plays the role of Indira Gandhi. The movie focuses on the events during the Emergency period and the decisions made by Indira Gandhi at that time.
Before its release, the film sparked controversy when Punjab Farid Kot MP Sarab Jit Singh Khalsa objected to certain scenes in the trailer, claiming that Sikhs were misrepresented. He, being the son of Khalsa Beant Singh, who was one of the two bodyguards involved in the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, requested the central government to halt the release of the film. Despite this, the producers have announced that the film will be released in theaters on September 6.
