JEE Advanced: Limited to Two Attempts

The Joint Admission Board (JAB) has reversed its recent decision regarding the JEE Advanced examination, which is conducted for admission to BTech and BArch programs in IITs. IIT Kanpur announced after a JAB meeting on the 15th of this month that candidates will only be allowed to attempt the exam twice in succession, as was previously the case.

The JEE Advanced exam has been held for admission to undergraduate courses in IITs since 2013. Candidates can take the exam only twice in a row: once in the year they complete their intermediate studies and again the following year. Although IIT Kanpur had initially proposed to increase the number of attempts to three, this decision was retracted less than 15 days later. As a result, candidates can only attempt the exam twice as before.

To be eligible for the JEE Advanced examination scheduled for next May, candidates must have completed their Intermediate or equivalent examinations in March 2024 or March 2025. Those who finished their intermediate studies before this timeframe will not be eligible to participate.
