Chairperson of the Twenty Points Programs Implementation in Andhra Pradesh Lanka Dinakar met with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today to submit a memorandum requesting a substantial increase in capital expenditure allocations for the State. The memorandum called for an allocation of up to Rs 13.50 lakh crore in the upcoming Union Budget.
Among the key demands, Dinakar highlighted the need for Rs 2 to 2.50 lakh crore in long-term interest-free loans for capital expenditure by States, alongside special allocations under the centrally sponsored scheme for the skill census. Further, Andhra Pradesh has requested an additional Rs 10 to 15 lakh crore to support the PM Gati Shakti Yojana, the national infrastructure master plan. Dinakar also proposed a dedicated Rs 50,000 crore under the Purvodaya initiative to support infrastructure development in five States, including Andhra Pradesh, through Central, State, and private partnerships.
The memorandum emphasized the continued financial support for vital projects such as Amaravati and Polavaram, which have been instrumental in the state’s development. Dinakar also thanked the government for recognizing Prakasam district as a backward district and requested similar financial provisions for other districts that have received Rs 350 crore over seven years. In addition, Dinakar expressed gratitude for the allocation of funds for the Orvakallu and Koparthi industrial nodes and urged the government to provide production-based incentives for green and renewable energy manufacturing industries. He further called for budgetary allocations to support industrial nodes in backward districts such as Donakonda, Nakkapalli, Yerpedu, and Hindupur.
