Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Calls for United Front Against BJP

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday called upon the people to unite behind the Gandhi family to defeat the BJP, urging all those who believe in Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology to support Rahul Gandhi in his ongoing battle against the Modi-led central government.

Speaking at the Congress Party's Chintan Baithak held on the banks of the iconic Sabarmati river in Ahmedabad, Revanth Reddy reaffirmed his commitment to halting the BJP's advance in Telangana.

“All of us must come together to defeat the ideological descendants of Nathuram Godse and Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Reddy said, as quoted by a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office. “I return from here with a renewed commitment to empower farmers, women, and youth, as discussed in the CWC meeting.”

Drawing parallels with India’s freedom movement, Reddy invoked Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy, particularly the Dandi March, emphasizing that the Father of the Nation endured decades of struggle without violence from the British — yet was assassinated within six months of India's independence.

He launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Modi, criticizing the unfulfilled promise of creating two crore jobs annually. “It’s been 11 years. By now, the Centre should have delivered over 20 crore jobs. But it seems only Modi and Amit Shah have secured employment,” he quipped.

Reddy also condemned the Modi government’s now-repealed farm laws, calling them “black laws” and highlighting the prolonged agitation by farmers. “Despite 14 to 15 months of protests, the Centre never invited the farmers for dialogue,” he noted.

He showcased the Telangana Congress government’s achievements under his leadership, including the waiver of ₹21,000 crore in farm loans, benefiting 25 lakh farmers within just 10 months in power. He also highlighted the completion of a caste census, fulfilling a key promise of Rahul Gandhi.

Recalling Telangana’s history, Reddy emphasized the role of the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and the first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in liberating the region from the Nizam’s rule. “This shared history is why Telangana continues to maintain a deep bond with the people of Gujarat and the legacy of Patel,” he said, adding that it was Sonia Gandhi who ultimately granted Telangana its statehood.
