Jagan’s Plan for AP Assembly: Never Before, Ever After
The Andhra Pradesh assembly sessions are starting today, November 11, a date that resonates with the YCP, as the party has 11 MLAs on its side. Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav is prepared to present the budget during today’s session, and related arrangements are in place.
However, due to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s unusual planning, the Andhra Pradesh assembly is set to experience something unprecedented and unlikely to be repeated in the future.
Firstly, the YCP is boycotting today’s assembly sessions, meaning no MLA from the party will participate in the in-house debates. Additionally, Jagan has instructed his MLAs to enter the house only during the designated time allocated for raising questions against the government. Even then, Jagan will not attend the assembly himself and will only send his MLAs.
While the assembly sessions are happening, Jagan is scheduled to hold a media briefing where he intends to criticize the government. Despite having the right to address the assembly and speak against the government directly in front of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, he has chosen to skip this opportunity and instead voice his concerns to the media.
This marks the first time in the brief history of divided Andhra Pradesh that an assembly session is being conducted entirely with the ruling alliance present and without any significant opposition participation, aside from limited attendance from select YCP MLAs.
Notably, despite having only 23 MLAs and several suspensions for various reasons, the TDP consistently participated in assembly sessions from 2019 to 2024. In contrast, Jagan’s faction appears determined to avoid participation in the current sessions.
In summary, the Andhra Pradesh assembly is poised to witness events that have never occurred before and are unlikely to be repeated, all due to one man—YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
