Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday asserted his commitment to safeguard the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. Speaking to media, the chief minister said, “I saved the steel plant during the former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee government, and I will protect it again,”. Naidu accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of spreading misinformation and labeled them as “hard-hitting thieves” responsible for looting Visakhapatnam. He warned against believing YSRCP’s claims, asserting that they are poisoning the steel plant’s prospects. “There is no question of leaving them unchallenged,” he added. The chief minister also criticized the state of the roads, describing them as dirty and filled with potholes. He suggested that those responsible for creating these conditions should be held accountable. Criticizing former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, he said, “If North Korea has Kim, here we have Jim.” He mocked the former regime’s practice of cutting trees and putting up curtains when Jagan visited, contrasting it with his own approach. “Those days are gone. No more carpets. I walk in the mud. I will spend every penny sparingly and use it for the people,” Naidu said, emphasizing his dedication to transparency and fiscal responsibility
