Supreme Court Issues Key Orders to ED, CBI in Jagan’s Illegal Assets Case
The Supreme Court has issued crucial directives to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
The Supreme Court has issued crucial directives to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding the illegal assets case involving YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. The court has ordered both agencies to provide comprehensive details of the case within two weeks.
The court has specifically instructed the ED and CBI to submit information about discharge petitions pending in lower courts and pending applications in the Telangana High Court. The agencies were asked to present this data in a chart format, separately for clarity.
This development follows a petition filed earlier by Andhra Pradesh Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju in the Supreme Court, alleging delays in the case proceedings. He had requested the court to transfer the case to another state, citing undue delays.
The petition was heard today by a bench led by Justice Oka. During the hearing, advocates informed the court that the Telangana High Court had already directed daily hearings on the case. Responding to this, the bench questioned the reasons behind the prolonged delay in the investigation and trial.
In reply, the advocates representing the agencies cited pending discharge and adjournment petitions, along with the ongoing proceedings in higher courts, as reasons for the delay. The Supreme Court observed that clarity on pending matters was essential to issue further directions. Consequently, the next hearing has been scheduled for December 13.
