The Andhra Pradesh government has introduced a specialized mobile app dedicated to sanitation management in rural areas, marking a significant step towards improving hygiene and cleanliness in the villages. The Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department officials informed Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during a review meeting on Tuesday that sanitation monitoring has already commenced in villages through this new app.
The review meeting, which focused on the Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Department, saw the participation of Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan. Pawan Kalyan briefed the Chief Minister on various initiatives, including the statewide gram sabhas scheduled for August 23rd, which will address employment guarantee works across 13,326 panchayats. During the meeting, the discussion also covered the proposed increase in honorarium for representatives of local bodies. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu highlighted the recent decision by the State Cabinet to amend the rule of ineligibility for contesting local body elections if a candidate has more than two children. 1452 crore to local bodies The Andhra Pradesh government has released Rs. 1452 crores to local bodies across the State. The funds were allocated following the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission, with Rs. 998 crore directed towards rural local bodies and Rs. 454 crore allocated to urban areas. Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav emphasized that these funds were released under the direct instructions of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, reflecting the government’s commitment to strengthening local institutions.
He also pointed out that the previous government had significantly weakened local bodies, but the current administration is focused on empowering and revitalizing them to ensure better governance and service delivery at the grassroots level.
