Amaravati: The Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) of the Telugu Desam Party made an interesting announcement here on Wednesday that they would construct the Prajavedika building in the AP’s capital location Amaravati again.

It may be recalled that the YSR Congress government demolished the Prajavedika building which was adjacent to TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu’s residence at Undavalli in Guntur district. Then the YSR Congress government demolished the building almost five years ago in the name of violation of rules immediately after coming to power even though it was meant for public utility.

Indeed, the first decision of the YSR Congress government faced criticism on the demolition. The majority of people criticised the decision irrespective of parties. Since then the Prajavedika building remains a painful memory in the minds of Telugus across the globe. The reconstruction of the building turns into a wish of the Telugu people.

Against this backdrop, the members of the TDP NRI wing decided to construct the building again. It may be noted that the NRIs of various countries have been campaigning for TDP during the last two months due to their admiration for former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Now some of the NRIs gathered at TDP central office on Tuesday night before leaving for their destinations from the motherland.

On this occasion, NRI TDP president V Ravi Kumar said that the NRIs decided to construct the Prajavedika again after TDP assuming power and it would be dedicated to the Andhra Pradesh State government. He made an important announcement in this regard on behalf of the NRI TDP.

As per his announcement, the NRIs of TDP who are living in various countries would bear the expenditure of the new building. The building would be constructed for multipurpose public usage.
