The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly witnessed heated exchanges on Thursday as Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and BJP Legislative Party Leader Vishnu Kumar Raju launched scathing attacks on former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy over alleged scams and mismanagement during his tenure. Chief Minister Naidu accused Jagan of "repeatedly deceiving the people" and tarnishing Andhra Pradesh’s image. “Jagan has done irreparable damage to the AP brand, making more mistakes than any political leader in history.
The systems and bureaucracy were weakened under his rule,” Naidu stated. The CM further alleged that the YSRCP government "destroyed Amaravati," claiming the Polavaram project’s diaphragm wall connection to the Godavari was jeopardized. Highlighting a lack of security and a hostile political climate, Naidu expressed concern over Andhra Pradesh’s inability to attract investments. He criticized Jagan for promoting false narratives and making impulsive decisions that hurt the state. BJP calls for action against Jagan BJP Legislative Party Leader Vishnu Kumar Raju demanded a probe into Jagan's alleged involvement in global and domestic scams.
"No matter what scam surfaces, Jagan's name seems to appear. Reports from the US indicate a chargesheet against him, involving allegations of receiving ₹1,750 crores and stakes in Gangavaram and Krishnapatnam ports," Raju claimed. Raju also raised questions about the Rs 450 crore Rushikonda project, alleging that ₹150 crores were misappropriated. “The AP government’s 10.4% share in Gangavaram Port, valued at ₹2,000 crores, was sold for just ₹651 crores. Former IAS officer Sharma had raised objections, but they were ignored,” he noted. Expressing anguish over Naidu’s recent 53-day imprisonment in the skill development case, Raju criticized the YSRCP government for targeting opposition leaders while ignoring allegations against Jagan.
He questioned the legitimacy of funds used for constructing a luxurious residence in Rushikonda and alleged that Andhra Pradesh had become a hub for illicit activities under Jagan’s leadership. "Wherever ganja is found, its roots lead back to Andhra Pradesh. The state’s reputation is being tarnished globally. If these allegations are true, a special investigation agency must probe the matter," Raju urged.
