Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav has announced that the Andhra Pradesh government will take a careful, thorough approach before revealing its stance on the power deals made with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) during the YSR Congress administration. The review will consider all factors, including any potential legal consequences arising from the recent bribery allegations against the Adani Group.
The US-based bribery case involves claims that the Adani Group engaged in an agreement to bribe officials in several states, including Andhra Pradesh, in order to secure agreements for selling solar power through SECI. Addressing the controversy, Minister Keshav reiterated that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had already made a clear statement on the matter, and the government would adhere to his guidance to avoid any financial or legal risks.
Minister Keshav also recalled that, as an opposition leader, he had previously taken legal action against the SECI deals in the High Court. "It would be inappropriate for me to discuss the matter further at this time," he said, emphasizing the government's commitment to making informed decisions based on a full review of the situation. He further clarified that the government's final approach would align with the instructions of CM Naidu, ensuring that the state's interests, both financial and legal, are fully protected.
