Google Safety Engineering Center: Google Opens Cybersecurity Hub in Hyderabad

Google has officially announced the establishment of the Google Safety Engineering Center (GSEC) in Hyderabad.

Google has officially announced the establishment of the Google Safety Engineering Center (GSEC) in Hyderabad. This center is the first of its kind in India and the fifth globally. Notably, it is the second center to be set up in the Asia Pacific region, following the one in Tokyo. A delegation led by Google Chief Information Officer Royal Hansen met with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and IT Industries Minister Sridhar Babu at the Chief Minister's residence in Jubilee Hills on Wednesday.

Google has signed an important agreement with the state government regarding the GSEC. This center will serve as a unique international cybersecurity hub, playing a vital role in the development of advanced security and online safety products. The announcement for the Safety Engineering Center was made during the 'Google for India 2024 Conclave,' which took place on October 3 of this year. Since then, various states have expressed interest in hosting the center.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had previously visited Google’s headquarters during his trip to the United States and has since taken special initiatives to establish this state-of-the-art center in Hyderabad. "I am very happy and proud that Google has chosen to set up GSEC in Hyderabad. This aligns with our vision of creating a thriving technology ecosystem and will contribute to transforming Telangana into a trillion-dollar economy," stated Chief Minister Reddy.

Royal Hansen emphasized, "Telangana is leading in digital skill development, and Hyderabad is a global hub for IT and engineering services. The Safety Center will facilitate quick resolutions to international cyber safety issues and create thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities."

The meeting also included participation from Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary of the IT and Industries Department, and Ajith Reddy, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister.
