New Delhi: April 26: As the second phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 progresses, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heatwave warnings for some states, including Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Voters are facing severe heat conditions as they cast their votes, with red and orange alerts issued for various states across India.
According to the latest IMD forecast, a red alert (extremely bad weather) has been issued for West Bengal, where severe heatwave conditions are anticipated. Neighboring states like Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, and Karnataka have been placed under an orange alert for heatwave conditions.
Yellow Alert means be cautious, Orange alert means to prepare for extremely bad weather and severe disruptions, and Red Alert means to take immediate action to address life-threatening risks.
Temperatures have already crossed the 40-degree mark and are expected to exceed 45 degrees in some areas. Regions such as Rayalaseema in Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and North Tamil Nadu are experiencing temperatures three to five degrees above normal.
Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for Jharkhand, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka, and Konkan by the weather department.
