Swift grain movement to support farmers : Nadendla Manohar

Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar has reassured farmers in Krishna district that all necessary measures are being taken

Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar has reassured farmers in Krishna district that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the prompt movement of grain by Friday evening. Speaking during an inspection of dry paddy fields in the Pamarru and Gudivada constituencies, the minister emphasized that the NDA coalition government is committed to standing by the farmers and addressing their concerns.

At a media conference held at the residence of Gudivada MLA Venigandla Ramu, minister Manohar stated that the grain procurement process will proceed smoothly, guaranteeing the minimum support price (MSP) for farmers. He acknowledged the challenges posed by climate change, which have delayed the usual timeline for grain movement, but assured that what typically takes 40 days will now be completed in just four days.

"The entire administration is working tirelessly, day and night, to support farmers in these trying times," he said. "We have implemented significant reforms in grain sales to mitigate the impact of climate change and have prioritized field-level monitoring to ensure seamless operations." Minister Manohar also highlighted innovative steps to ease the financial burden on farmers. "We are depositing payments directly into farmers' accounts within 24 hours of grain sales. Millers have been instructed to accept paddy with up to 24 per cent moisture content, and we have cleared outstanding funds to eliminate delays caused by bank guarantee issues.

" In Gudivada alone, arrangements have been made to procure 30 metric tons of grain by evening. The minister announced the introduction of a new 1:2 bank guarantee facility for farmers, ensuring better financial security. Additionally, transportation and supply of sacks have been streamlined through farmer assistance centers to simplify the process. Manohar urged farmers to cooperate with officials and avoid unnecessary panic. "The government is fully committed to their welfare, and every step is being taken to protect their interests during this critical period," he said.
