Andhra Pradesh Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha has accused YSR Congress leaders of exploiting rape incidents involving women and children for political gain, expressing her outrage at what she termed “political vultures.” Speaking on the tragic child murder case in Vadamalapet, she emphasized the need for collective condemnation of such heinous acts and visited the victim’s family on Sunday to express her condolences.
Anita criticized the opposition for capitalizing on incidents of violence against women, stating, “They are going to every place where there are rape incidents and trying to use those incidents to their advantage.” She also pointed out the deterioration of police and CCTV systems during the previous YSRCP regime, questioning the YSRCP leaders who visited the victim’s family and demanding to know why they had not shown the same concern for Sharmila, who, according to Anita, was betrayed by former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Regarding the child murder case in Vadamalapet, the Home Minister assured that the accused would face strict action and promised that the case would be expedited to a special court for a verdict within three months. She pledged that the police would present strong evidence against the accused in due time. During her visit, a check for Rs. 10 lakh, announced by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, was handed over to the victim’s family. Anita also mentioned that, at the request of the child’s mother, efforts were underway to secure a house and job for the girl’s father. Home minister revealed that drones are being employed to combat illegal ganja cultivation in Andhra Pradesh. She added that special kits would soon be available to help identify individuals who have consumed cannabis.
