Mahesh Babu–Rajamouli’s SSMB29 Targets March 2027 Release
Two of Telugu cinema’s biggest powerhouses, Mahesh Babu and SS Rajamouli, have teamed up for the much-anticipated jungle adventure tentatively titled SSMB29. With a rumored budget of ₹1,000 crore, the film is poised to become India’s most expensive production to date.
Production began earlier this year, with two major schedules completed in Hyderabad and Odisha. The recently concluded shoot saw Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran join the cast, adding significant pan-Indian and international appeal. The team is currently on a short break, with filming set to resume in Hyderabad later this month.
Buzz in the industry suggests that Rajamouli is eyeing a March 25, 2027 release date, aligning with the release anniversary of his Oscar-winning blockbuster RRR (released on the same date in 2022). The strategic choice of date could offer a box office advantage, coinciding with Good Friday (March 26), Ugadi (April 7), and Ram Navami (April 15) holidays.
Despite swirling speculation, Rajamouli remains famously tight-lipped about his projects, and no official confirmation has been made. Following the global acclaim for RRR, Rajamouli has been reportedly in talks with Hollywood studios to ensure a massive worldwide release for SSMB29.
With a press meet expected soon, fans and the industry alike are waiting to see if Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu will officially unveil their vision and release strategy for what promises to be a cinematic spectacle of unprecedented scale.
