Ilaiyaraaja Steps into the Spotlight to Support Young Talent in Shashtipurthi
Musical maestro Ilaiyaraaja is known for his low-key presence when it comes to film promotions, rarely stepping into the limelight for such events. But in a refreshing change, the legendary composer made a special appearance in Hyderabad last night for the teaser launch of his upcoming Telugu film Shashtipurthi.
Marking a rare public outing, Ilaiyaraaja attended the event to extend his support and encouragement to the film’s young cast and crew. “The team behind this film is young and extremely talented,” he said. “You’ve been enjoying my music for years, and you’ll continue to do so—this film included.”
Adding to the evening’s musical resonance, Oscar-winning composer M.M. Keeravani also attended the event. He penned the lyrics for “Edo Ededo,” a standout track in the film’s album. Keeravani noted that the song encapsulates the film’s core theme while also expressing his deep admiration for Ilaiyaraaja.
Veteran actor Rajendra Prasad, who plays a key role in Shashtipurthi, shared his personal connection with the maestro. “I used to refer to Ilaiyaraaja as ‘Swami,’” he said. “It feels incredible to be collaborating with him again after all these years.”
The film features newcomers Rupeysh and Akanksha Singh in the lead roles. It also brings back the iconic Ladies Tailor duo—Rajendra Prasad and Archana—in important supporting roles.
Directed by Pavan Prabha and produced by Rupesh Kumar Chowdary under the MAA AAI Productions banner, Shashtipurthi is set to release soon, with the official release date to be announced shortly.
