Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart announced on Wednesday that it has teamed up with payment solutions company BillDesk to enhance its digital payment offerings across five new categories. The expansion will include recharge and bill payment categories such as FasTag, DTH recharges, landline, broadband, and mobile postpaid bill payments on the Flipkart app.
The domestic marketplace has collaborated with BillDesk to integrate the new services with Bharat Bill Payments System (BBPS), developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
These newly added services complement the existing electricity bill payment and mobile prepaid recharge options. Gaurav Arora, Vice President of Payments and SuperCoins at Flipkart, noted, “We have diversified our selection of services in line with Flipkart’s vision to simplify the digital payments journey for customers and further the government’s vision of a cashless economy.
This enhancement has created a one-stop destination for customers to fulfill all their needs anytime, anywhere in a secure and seamless manner, from buying their favorite products to addressing digital payment requirements.” In March of this year, the Bengaluru-based company, in collaboration with Axis Bank, unveiled its UPI handle @fkaxis to facilitate online and offline merchant transactions within and outside of the Flipkart marketplace.
