Vijayawada: May 15: The Election Commission has officially released the polling percentage for Andhra Pradesh’s recent elections, showcasing a remarkable increase in voter participation compared to the 2019 elections. The state registered an impressive 81.86 percent voter turnout, marking a significant surge of 2.12 percent from the previous election cycle.
According to data provided by the Election Commission, the total number of votes cast through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) across Andhra Pradesh reached a staggering 3,33,40,560. Of these, men contributed 1,64,30,359 votes, while women’s votes amounted to 1,69,08,684. Noteworthy was the participation of the transgender community, with 1517 votes, highlighting the inclusive nature of the electoral process.
Additionally, the Election Commission emphasised the participation through postal ballots and home vote options. A substantial number of 4,44,216 votes were cast through postal ballots, primarily comprising votes from employees on election duty. Moreover, 53,573 votes were recorded through the home vote option, specifically designed to accommodate elderly, disabled, and seriously ill voters.
The cumulative percentage of votes cast through EVMs, postal ballots, and home vote options resulted in an impressive 81.86 percent overall turnout, indicating a robust democratic spirit among the electorate of Andhra Pradesh.
