Besides, Acharya NG Ranga who represented three times consecutively Guntur Lok Sabha and once Tenali. He was also elected for Rajya Sabha twice. Ranga’s name is registered in the Guinness Book of World Records as a parliamentarian with 50 years of service. He was elected to Rajya Sabha from Madras State in 1952 and Andhra Pradesh in 1977. He represented Tenali, Chittoor, Srikakulam and Guntur Lok Sabha constituencies from 1957 to 1991. He created a history in Indian politics. He established the Swatantra party and Krishikar Lok Party. It’s apt to recall that his party was once the main Opposition in the Assembly. He served as a member of the planning commission, and deputy leader of Lok Sabha. The Indian Government honored him with the Padma Vibhushan award. He sacrificed various highest positions and always worked for farmers and other public issues. He got a very good reputation across the country. Several of his followers achieved Chief Minister posts and Union Cabinet minister positions later.
Once again Guntur Lok Sabha is the centre of attraction in the country. NRI doctor-turned-industrialist Pemmasani Chandrasekhar is contesting from Guntur Lok Sabha. He is recognised as one of the richest persons of Indian Lok Sabha contestants. His speeches also attracted people across the parties. As a result, he has become the most popular leader in state politics at present. Speculations are rife in political circles that his victory is a formality when the Opposition YSR Candidate Kilari Rosaiah is not playing any active part.
Surprisingly, Guntur Lok Sabha has many specialities in this election. The sons of two former Chief Ministers Nara Lokesh and Nadendla Manohar are MLA candidates for Mangalagiri and Tenali respectively working with MP candidate Pemmasani Chandrasekhar. However, their election is only a formality. They have good prospects based on their stature and other situations of the constituencies.
Another interesting point is two former officers B Ramanjaneyulu (former collector Guntur district) for Prattipadu and T Sravan Kumar (former ZP CEO of Guntur district) for Tadikonda are contesting as MLA candidates on TDP ticket under the purview of Guntur Lok Sabha. Both leaders are in a confident position to win the election.
Besides, five-term legislator and senior leader Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar is again contesting from Ponnuru constituency which is in Guntur Lok Sabha segment. He has been continuing as chairman for Sangam Dairy which is a big cooperative milk dairy formed with farmers under the leadership of his father late D Veeraiah Chowdary. The two other leaders Mohammad Naseer and Galla Madhavi both are contesting from Guntur East and West Assembly constituencies. The strong support for TDP from urban areas is an advantageous point to them. The Guntur Lok Sabha is totally in a favourable position following the entry of Pemmasani.
Indeed, Guntur Lok Sabha voters extended their support for the TDP candidate industrialist turned politician Galla Jaya Dev in the last elections though the rival YSR Congress won 22 Lok Sabha seats in the other parts of the State.
