Leading agricultural solutions provider Coromandel International Ltd has recently opened a modern nano fertilizer plant at its facility in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. The inauguration took place on Sunday and was attended by the company’s Executive Director (Nutrient Business) Sankarasubramanian S, along with senior leadership and key channel partners from across the nation.
The new facility at the Kakinada complex marks Coromandel’s entry into the next generation of fertilizers, with the potential to revolutionize Indian agriculture, according to a company statement. The fully automated nano fertilizer plant has an annual production capacity of one crore bottles. It is designed using energy-efficient technologies and can be scaled up to manufacture multiple ranges of nano fertilizers, including the existing Nano Dia Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and Nano Urea products.
Coromandel has developed these nano fertilizers, which ensure optimal nutrient delivery and absorption by plants, at its in-house R&D center at IIT Bombay-Monash Research Academy. Marketed under the ‘Gromor Nano’ brand, the company has conducted extensive farmer field trials to establish their efficacy. Additionally, the firm has established a Nano Technology Centre in Coimbatore to focus on nano applications in agriculture.
Coromandel’s Kakinada unit has an annual production capacity of 2 million tonnes of conventional fertilizers, meeting the needs of the farming community across India.
