TDP creates records, breaks records: Lokesh

• One crore memberships in 83 days a milestone
• Accident insurance for workers increased to Rs 5 lakh

Minister for IT and HRD Nara Lokesh said that only TDP can create records in politics and break them, emphasizing the party’s enduring legacy.

Speaking at TDP’s 43rd Foundation Day celebrations, he stated, “If you do good, the workers will appreciate it, and if you do wrong, they will hold me accountable.”

Lokesh highlighted that TDP became the first regional party to enroll one crore members in just 83 days, calling it an extraordinary achievement. He also announced that, on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s orders, the accident insurance for party workers has been increased from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh as a welfare measure.

Reflecting on the party’s 43-year journey, he acknowledged both major successes and crises, stating that despite challenges, TDP’s dedicated workers have stood firm, ensuring the party’s resilience.

He credited Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) for introducing welfare policies in India and Chandrababu Naidu for defining true development. He asserted that TDP empowered backward classes (BCs), providing them with economic and political independence.

Lokesh emphasized that TDP has left a lasting mark on national politics, stating that despite opportunities to hold key positions at the Centre, TDP always prioritized the development of Andhra Pradesh. He credited TDP for playing a key role in awarding the Bharat Ratna to Dr. B R Ambedkar and noted that it was Chandrababu Naidu who proposed Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam as President of India.

Comparing politics before and after 2019, Lokesh claimed that TDP faced anarchy and oppression. He recalled that even the TDP office, regarded as a temple, was attacked. Referring to past political maneuvers, he said, “The person who once claimed that TDP would lose opposition status by luring four MLAs now has no opposition status at all.”

Lokesh stated that the people of Andhra Pradesh demanded a pro-people government and reaffirmed TDP’s commitment to eradicating poverty. He announced that pensions have been increased, and free gas cylinders are being provided under the Deepam scheme. He also highlighted that 117 promises have been fully implemented within 10 months of TDP returning to power.

Further, he announced that the Thalliki Vandanam and Annadata Sukhibhava schemes will be rolled out in May, underscoring TDP’s dedication to public welfare and development.
